Jumping the Gun

Jumping the Gun is Hannah Mahute, Howard Wallace, Brian Blackwell, and Tyler Suggs. The band originated in Pensacola, FL, USA, in 2015. JTG was formed as a garage rock band that shared a deep passion for music. Before they knew it, Jumping the Gun was writing original music, recording albums in studio, and headlining shows.

JTG’s early years of live shows included the Santa Rosa County Fair, the Vision of Hope Charity Event, and local bars/restaurants. In the fall of 2018, they performed at 99Rock’s “Next2Rock” competition (Village Door Seascape, Destin) where they were nominated as one of the top 5 bands in the region. That same year, JTG was also nominated for the Beachcomber Music Awards.

Jumping the Gun released its first EP, “Chasing Tales,” in 2018. Their first full-length album, “Behind the 8 Ball,” was released in 2019 with another EP, “Welcome to the Show,” following shortly after in 2021.

As many musicians struggled during the COVID pandemic of 2020, JTG decided to find another way to come together with their fans. Through YouTube they created music videos, live-streamed performances and filmed “gear review” videos which allowed them to grow globally. Over the years, the band’s music has been played from local radio stations in Southeast America to indie playlists in the United Kingdom, Brazil and Japan.

In 2022, Jumping the Gun decided to cut their next album in Muscle Shoals, AL, USA. In search of the legendary sound that Muscle Shoals is known for, the band found themselves recording at FAME Recording Studios & The Nutthouse. JTG is currently releasing their rock-centered EP, “Bad Behavior.” A few of the hardest hitting titles include, “Bite My Tongue,” “Bad Behavior” and “Talking With The Devil.”

Hannah is JTG’s driving force as lead singer, songwriter, guitarist and keyboardist. Brian plays the drums on all recorded albums and live shows. Howard plays bass and manages the live sound. Tyler leads with electric guitar.

JTG’s lyrics speak to a broad audience of anyone facing the challenges of real life. In their rock sound, you might hear hints of iconic bands from the 70’s to the early 2000’s.

The passion in their music translates into songs that will keep you coming back for more. In JTG's latest album, “Bad Behavior," you won't find yourself skipping any tracks.
